What is Retail Cooling, and how does it differ from traditional cooling solutions? 
 
Retail Cooling is a comprehensive solution in which Keppel designs, builds, owns and operates chilled water systems of commercial and industrial buildings throughout the entire system life cycle. Unlike traditional cooling solutions that require building owners to invest, operate and maintain chilled water systems, Retail Cooling is a one-stop package with a subscription-based or pay-per-use model which provides building owners with hassle-free access to efficient cooling solutions.
How is a Retail Cooling contract arrangement like and how will I be charged?
Our Retail Cooling contracts are typically fifteen to twenty years long to align to the life span of a typical chilled water system. The charges are flexible and tailored to the needs of our customers.

When a customer requires a chilled water system replacement due to old age or inefficiency, we will be able to design, build, own and operate a new system at the customer’s site by tapping on to our District Cooling expertise. If a customer has installed a relatively new system, we can evaluate and consider a buyback of this system, and provide operations and maintenance for its remaining life span.

The recurring charges will be in a form of Demand Charge and Energy Charge or a simplified single-tariff Energy Charge to account for the investment, operation, maintenance, electricity and water required by the system to generate and supply chilled water.

As a whole, our customers will enjoy life cycle cost savings as compared to setting up and operating a chilled water system on their own.
What are measures in place to ensure the reliability and performance of Retail Cooling systems?
We are committed to providing a consistent and reliable supply of chilled water. Every chilled water system is designed based on our customer’s nature of business and requirements such as chilled water supply temperature, allowable temperature range and service level availability.

Similar to our District Cooling set up, all of our Retail Cooling systems are remotely controlled and monitored at our 24/7 Keppel Operation Nerve Centre (ONC) to ensure optimal reliability and performance. Our ONC is capable of Digitalised Central Command and Control (DCCC), real-time smart optimisation, advanced data analytics, machine learning and Fault Detection & Diagnosis (FDD) for early detection of equipment health conditions.

We also have experienced roving teams that oversee all our Retail Cooling systems and can be dispatched during emergencies.
